National Wind is the Newest Member of the Mid-Continent Energy Marketers Association (MEMA)

Minneapolis, Minnesota – April 10th, 2009 – National Wind announces today that it is the newest voting member of the Mid-Continent Energy Marketers Association (MEMA). Formed in 2003, MEMA is an independent non-profit trade association with nearly 100 members. The MEMA works with the Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) to provide rulings, representation and education to improve the fluidity and conduct of transactions in the energy marketplace. The goal of MEMA is to generate fair opportunities to trade energy for all parties involved in these transactions.

“As a voting member, we can help influence regulations that affect the selling and trading of energy in the power markets,” said Senior Wind Developer Ben Kerl. “It is important to have a vote, especially since National Wind has 4,000 megawatts of active wind developments. We are a key industry player and want to work with other members to help establish fair rulings, enabling the creation of an informed and efficient open energy marketplace across North America.”

Mid-Continental Energy Marketers Association currently has operations in 46 states and Canada. MEMA members own and operate over 300,000 megawatts of generating capacity and serve over 50 million electric and gas customers.
