Leading Wind Assessment Firm To Offer Second Wind’s Triton To Its Clients
Somerville, MA and Grand Forks, ND- September 17th, 2009 – National Wind Assessments, a team of independent wind consultants, has adopted Second Wind’s Triton Sonic Wind Profiler to add value to its wind resource assessment offerings.
Designed and manufactured by Somerville, Mass.-based Second Wind Inc., a leading provider of wind assessment systems, the Triton is an advanced remote sensing system that uses sodar to capture accurate wind data at the heights of today’s wind turbines.
National Wind Assessments is a division of National Wind, a leading community-based wind farm developer. The wind assessment division has been involved in planning, permitting, and designing over 50 utility-scale wind farms across the United States, along with dozens of smaller projects. The company has offered wind assessment services using data from meteorological towers. Now it will add the ability to collect wind data from sonic wind profiling to its analysis.
“National Wind Assessments is very excited to utilize remote sensing technology. The Triton Sodar will provide an essential tool to our wind analysis reports,” says Kevin Romuld, President of National Wind Assessments. “Because of its unique mobility, the Tritons will also be used for prospecting and for more precise measurement of wind shear. The Triton is an excellent fit for National Wind Assessments’ existing met tower, data collection and advanced wind resource assessment services.”
“Endorsement of the Triton Sonic Wind Profiler by a leading wind assessment firm such as National Wind Assessments is an important milestone for Second Wind,” says Second Wind COO Larry Letteney. “National Wind Assessments is a recognized leader in wind flow modeling and wind resource assessments. We look forward to working with Kevin’s team.”
